We welcome back The Infrared Experience (Location still unknown) with a brand new instrumental CD
and there is an enormous variety (or creativity, if you like) going on here.
From experimental & contemporary music to (guitar) post rock to organic (guitar) ambient (sometimes dark) soundscapes.
And maybe also for people who like a mix of Steve Reich, Roy Montgomery, Set Fire to Flames, Philip Glass,
Stars of the Lid, (experimental) Sonic Youth etc (to name the most known)
Actually we have more or less 3 parts here:
First there are these rather melodic, slow progressing and sometimes melancholic tracks,
then we have these experimental songs and finally tracks who are more or less floating.
All these tracks fit together nicely and combine to an excellent "whole".
Sometimes it is hard to believe that all sounds have been created only with electric guitars and a few guitar effect pedals, but it's a fact.
This is the second full length album by The Infrared Experience and it is probably even better than the appreciated debut "White".
But you really need to listen to the entire album to appreciate the variety & ideas.

Erstem Aufeinandertreffen lagen drei Stücke der Dreiersplit “Understanding Time (Part 1)” mit Flat Black Project & Bleeding Thorax zugrunde, wo der Weltbürger “tie” hinter The Infrared Experience ebenfalls eine emotionale Fusion aus Ambient, Drone & Postrock kredenzte, die er auf seinem aktuellen Werk “Memories, Waves & Frowns” erneut unter Beweis stellt.
Gleich vorherigen Werken erblicket “Memories, Waves & Frowns” über Against it Records das Licht der Welt, in deren Backkatalog sich eine Menge illusterer Projekte wie The Infrared Experience tummeln, deren musikalische Wurzeln im Ambient, Drone & Postrock.
Emotionen in Musik transferiert, erscheinen oftmals kitschig, plakativ oder gar schwülstig, wovon The Infrared Experience mit “Memories, Waves & Frowns” meilenweit entfernt ist, das Themen aus Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft in meist melancholischer Art & Weise zutage fördert, die keineswegs abstrus vorkommen, sondern in jedem normalen (vielleicht zu nachdenklichen) Leben passieren bzw. auftauchen.
Dominant im Vordergrund wähnen sich auf “Memories, Waves & Frowns” Gitarrenlinien, welche der Protagonist unterschiedlich stark verfremdete, wodurch sich die Tondokumente innerhalb der Genres Ambient, Drone & Postrock bewegen. Vor allem die technische Hochwertigkeit der einzelnen Kompositionen hebt diese Arbeit von den Unsummen, die Jahr für Jahr für in dieser Szenerie erscheinen, ab, weshalb The Infrared Experience definitiv ein Versuch wert ist, den sie/ er nicht bereut, wenn Steven Reich, Roy Montgomery, Philip Glass und Sonic Youth zu ihren Favoriten zählen. Anspieltipp? Aufgrund der sehr hohen dichte von exzellenten Tracks lässt sich kein exakter Anspieltipp herauskristallisieren, einfach CD-R in den Schacht und zu entspannenden Traumreisen aufbrechen.
Fazit:
“Memories, Waves & Frowns” von The Infrared Experience, ein weiterer Höhepunkt im feinen Backkatalog des saarländischen Verlages Against it Records, der besonders durch seine emotionalen Berührungen vollends überzeugt, fasziniert wie mitnimmt – meine absolute Empfehlung! (Kultur Terrorismus)
